Indoor Athletics

Great news! Following our success of finishing second place in the Sports Partnership Indoor Athletics competition, we were invited to attend the pyramid finals!

On Friday 27th January, 25 of our Year 6 pupils took part in the athletic finals, repeating their previous events. The children all were delighted to improve upon their last performance and beat their personal bests! They all performed their events with confidence and represented our school fantastically!

We finished in the bronze position, coming third out of six schools. Well done to all of the children that took part, Abbot's Hall are proud to have you representing us.

On Saturday 30th January, our year 6 boy's football team participated in the football county finals at Westley Middle School.

The boys played a total of 6 matches and won an amazing 5 out of 6! They were an absolute credit to the school and demonstrated great sportsmanship. Overall, we came second in the tournament, narrowly missing out on first place by goal difference! They were absolutely incredible and we are so pleased with the result.

Once again, a huge thank you to the parents for all of your support, especially Mr Hurst-Cotton and Mr Allen whose top coaching skills got us to the finals.

Here are some photos of the boys in our brand new sports kit!!

Following our recent success at the U11 boy's football tournment, we qualified to the next round against the winners of our cluster schools and the winners of the Thurston pyramid competition.

We are so excited to announce that after winning ALL of our games against Great Finborough, Elmswell, Thurston and Bosmere we have now QUALIFIED TO THE COUNTY FINALS!! The boys all played so well as a team and demonstrated excellent sportsmanship. Thank you again to Mr Allen and Mr Hurst-Cotton for your coaching expertise! Here is a photo of us with our trophy!

Boy's U11 7 aside Football Tournament

On Wednesday 11th November, 10 year 6 boys entered a 7 aside football tournament at Needham Market Football Club.

The boys played against other local schools and won their league, with an impressive two wins and a draw. They then qualified to the semi finals, which unfortunatley they lost 2-0 to Bosmere B team. We did however finish in third position overall, which resulted in us qualifying to the finals round. The boys will be competing Tuesday 24th November at Stowmarket High School in the next round. Good luck boys!!

A special thank you to Mr Allen and Mr Hurst-Cotton for coaching the boys throughout the tournament.

Tag Rugby

On Wednesday 21st October, 19 Year 6 children took part in the annual Tag Rugby competition, held at Stowmarket High School.

We entered two teams into the tournament, Team 1 Australia and Team 2 England. Both teams performed the traditional HAKA dance before their matches.

The children played fantastically well as a team, sadly Australia just missed out on 1st place by try difference. We were very pleased to walk away with silver still! Thank you to the parents for your support at this event, it was thoroughly appreciated by Mrs Rees, Miss Manning and the children.

Cross Country Competition

On Thursday 8th October, 20 years 5 and 6 children took part in the school partnership annual Cross Country event. Well done to all of the children that took part in the race, all of your efforts combined earned Abbot's Hall 1st place over all! One child also qualified to run in the next stage of the competition.

Mrs Rees and Miss Manning are looking forward to placing our first trophy of the year in our new reception area!
