We are pleased to announce that we raised an amazing £297.13 for Children In Need! Thank you to everyone who donated and for taking part in wearing spots for this fantastic cause.
Languagenut
Students from Abbot's Hall and other schools nationally have taken part in a Languagenut Christmas Competition.
Nolan L (year 4) – 21st place
Walter C (year 5) – 31st place
Charlotte H (year 6) – 42nd place
Hollie M (year 6) – 47th place
As a school, we also came 11th out of 1900 schools that participated, so this was a great achievement as a whole school too!
Girls Football
Girls from Abbot's Hall have been taking part in a school football competition this term. They came first in the first round and then were put through to the next round, playing other schools within Suffolk. The girls played really well and were very unlucky, but came third out of the whole of Suffolk, so still an amazing achievement! The final took place on 28th November at Needham Market Football Club. We would also like to say thank you to Mr Healy for helping coach the team.

Year 5 Sports Visitors
Our year 5 pupils were very lucky to have two guest visitors join them for their PE lesson. We had the pleasure of Maria Lutua a professional Fijian netballer who has competed in 3 netball world cups and Cole Skuse, a former captain of Ipswich Town Football Club.
The children were able to take part in both netball and football skills sessions, followed by a question and answer session where they were able to find out what it is like competing at a professional level.
Congratulations to Rory S, Rory C, Luna J and Lucy H for being trainers of the day and receiving a small reward from our guest coaches.
Everyone had great fun this morning. Thank you to Mrs Cook for being able to organise such a great experience for our children.

Concert for Jim
Students from years 5 and 6 took part in celebrating Stowmarket veteran, Jim Grant's, 100th birthday as part of the Jam Community Pot!
Jim Grant is a WW2 D-Day veteran who regularly attends the Jam Pot at the United Reformed Church, in Stowmarket. They wanted to celebrate this momentous occasion and originally wanted 300 birthday cards from the local community to be given to Jim. Mrs Childs decided it would be great for Abbots Hall to be involved, so all year groups across the school designed cards. The Abbot's Hall choir had the privilege of attending Jim's birthday celebrations at the URC singing 'Happy Birthday' and 'Step into Christmas'.
Representatives from the Armed Forces were also in attendance to celebrate.

Violin Concert
Our year 5 and 6's had their violin concert for their parents and guardians on 10th December. They all played amazingly and were able to showcase how much year 5 has learnt so far this year and our year 6's continuing to develop with their 'play on'. Thank you to those who were able to come and support.
U9 and U11 Dodgeball Competition
On Tuesday 3rd and Thursday 12th December our U9 and U11 dodgeball teams took part in the GVTSSP Dodgeball tournament, although there were no winning positions given at this event, all teams played well and showed great dodging skills
Well done both teams!
Road Safety Week
Well done to all of our Road Safety Week competition entries. Make sure you look out for posters as you walk around Stowmarket, you might spot yours attached to one of the lampposts!
Enterprise Day
All the children had great fun making all their gifts for their grown ups on enterprise day with the help from all the Abbot's Hall elves. We hope you all loved them and managed to pop some pennies in the donation buckets.
Thank you for the friends of Abbot's Hall for being able to do this for the school.

Last day of term assembly
On our last day of autumn term we had a very special assembly to celebrate the up-and-coming festivities, including a visit from Father Christmas himself to deliver gifts to the school. Every year, the friends donate money to each year group to buy a gift the children can use in their break times.
Everyone was super excited and well done to all those pupils who received the BTBYCB certificate this term.
Photos of our assembly are in the photo gallery.
Mid Suffolk Rotary Club Donation
Abbot's Hall have been very lucky to have a book vending machine donated to the school on behalf of Mid Suffolk Rotary Club.
A book vending machine is a creative way to use a vending machine to supply books to pupils of Abbot's Hall. Pupils can be rewarded for being 'the best they can be' and given a token that can be inserted into the vending machine for the book of their choice.
Thank you to the President of the Rotary Club, Guy Wiltshear, for coming along to present this to Mr Pettitt and Mrs Flory.
